Are you sick of plums yet?......I'm not!

Ha ha ha oh no not more bloody plum posts.....ah yes, well one more at least, hee hee.

I thought I'd show some of the 'other' things that have come out of the Bluedilly Nature kitchen this year, thanks to the plums!

We had Frangipani and Plum Tarts......went down a treat with guests over for dinner last Friday night. These were delicious, the almond flavour of the frangipani just added another level of sweetness without being over powering, I loved them and so did the girl child. We are now looking forward to trying some of the other stone fruit when they ripen, like nectarines or peaches. Oh my mouth is watering just thinking of the possibilities.

Individual Frangipani & Plum Tart - delicious.
Large Frangipani & Plum tart.
The tarts were served with a really yummy vanilla bean yoghurt, just to add a bit of healthy to the end of a delicious meal. Everyone wanted seconds so that's got to be a recipe we make again.

Last weekend I thought I'd try making a Red Plum Fruit Paste, normally I make Quince Paste and it's become quite popular amongst friends and family and so I thought, why can't I make a fruit paste with the plums? Well you can and I did and it is scrumptious. Served with cheese and crackers it's a great summer snack. Will definitely make more of this.
Red Plum Fruit Paste - delicious.
I served the fruit paste with a Dutch Edam and a Peppercorn cheese but if you like a soft blue cheese go for it, in my opinion a blue cheese would be better.

And yesterday I made Plum Sauce, which filled the house with a delightful smell which lingered long into the night. Mind you it took me long into the night to process and recook and bottle it up, and to make matters worse I now have to wait 4 freaking weeks before I can sample it! Grrrr, I want to try it now!

The girl child is very keen to try this sauce too as she loves it (I was sent the recipe from a lovely friend of the Nana's who gave us a bottle last year), it's not like her to like a something that made the house smell of savoury. Quite funny as an aside she did try to help with the stirring until the steam made her eyes water and took her breath away - have you ever tried making sauce/chutney.....if you inhale the steam it quite literally takes your breath away. I understood her pain when she turned to look at me with a look of horror on her face as if I'd made it do that to her on purpose! Apparently I am one mean mother, just ask her!
